How The Course is Structured
Each week/module of the course features 7 related topics. Each topic contains 1 video lecture (videos vary in length but each week contains 2 to 3 hours of total video). Each video is accompanied by recommended reading as well as relevant printables, action steps, and a self-discovery exercise.
Proceed through each week at your own pace! You must go through the topics in order and watch each video lecture in order to mark that topic as completed. Reading, action steps and self-discovery exercises are all optional but highly recommended.
Dr. Sarah leads twice weekly discussions in a private Facebook group to accompany each week’s lectures as well as a shares a once weekly Facebook video FAQ. The private Facebook group is also where you can ask Dr. Sarah your questions directly and connect with other students. You will automatically receive an invite to the Facebook group a few days before the course begins (you will be prompted to supply the e-mail address that your Facebook account is linked to at checkout).
At the end of each week/module, there is an interactive quiz so that you can test your understanding of that week’s content.
Recommended Reading
Each lecture is accompanied by recommended reading out of Paleo Principles and/or The Paleo Approach. You will want to have both of these books on hand before the lectures start in order to maximize the value of this course.
Printables
Almost every lecture is accompanied by one or more relevant printables. These are useful guides that will help you access the information quickly, aid in completing self-discovery exercises, and/or provide practical tips to accompany lecture topics.
Action Steps
When relevant, videos are accompanied by suggested action steps to help you implement or refine the Autoimmune Protocol. You may use Action Steps to guide a gradual transition to the AIP or to provide emphasis for refinement and improvement of your implementation.
Self-Discovery Exercises
Each lecture is accompanied by a self-discovery exercise. This is your suggested homework before moving on to the next lecture in the series. Self-discovery exercises are designed to help reinforce concepts learned in each lecture and aid in implementation and refinement of the Autoimmune Protocol.
Additional Resources
Where appropriate, I’ve highlighted additional resources relevant to a specific topic that you may enjoy. These are not included in the course, but are premium products or programs created by my colleagues in the Autoimmune Community.
FAQ
How do I access the course?
The main course is accessed through your ThePaleoMom.com account. If you don’t already have an account, you will be asked to create one at checkout. Simply log in to your account by clicking on “My Account” at the top of ThePaleoMom.com homepage and select “AIP Lecture Series” under “My Courses”. Then scroll own to click on the main module for each week as it unlocks, which takes you to an intro page for that module with links for each lecture. You will also receive e-mail reminders with direct links to modules as they unlock every Monday during the course session. You can watch a video tour of the course on the AIP Lecture Series Course Details page.
How much interaction do I get with Dr. Sarah? Will I get 1-on-1 support?
Lots! Dr. Sarah gives all the lectures and is there to support you and give you guidance throughout the 6 weeks. You will be able to interact with Dr. Sarah and ask her your individual questions in the private Facebook group for this course. Dr. Sarah answers every question posted during the 6-week session.
Dr. Sarah also guides discussions relevant to that week’s lecture topics in the private Facebook group twice weekly (posted Mondays and Thursdays, and we typically continue to discuss over a few days). Dr. Sarah shares a video FAQ based on the most common questions and discussion points from that week (posted on Saturdays, with sometimes a bonus FAQ video mid-week).
Please keep in mind that the AIP Lecture Series is an educational program and not a coaching program. If you are interested in personalized guidance through transition to the Autoimmune Protocol by a certified health coach in a group setting, Dr. Sarah highly recommends the SAD to AIP in Six program, which has an amazing track record. If you are interested in working 1-on-1 with a qualified coach, check out the directory of AIP Certified Coaches.
I live in [country name]. Can I still take the course?
Yes! Dr. Sarah carefully planned every aspect of this course to be accessible no matter what time zone you’re in or what your schedule looks like! You can stream the video lectures on-demand, and contribute to the Facebook guided discussion, ask your questions, or watch the FAQ video at your leisure.
How much time will I need to dedicate to this course each week?
This course contains a huge amount of valuable content! Remember that you retain lifetime access to the entire course, all of the course materials, and the private Facebook group for your session. Each week contains 2-3 hours of video lectures, 1-2 hours worth of recommended reading, and the self-discovery exercises will take about 1 to 1.5 hours per week. It takes most students 6 to 8 hours to go through the content for each week. Time spent implementing the Autoimmune Protocol is not accounted for in these estimates. This is a self-directed course, so you may proceed through the topics at your own pace and on your own schedule. Once each week/module is unlocked, you will retain lifetime access.
What exactly do I have lifetime access to?
You retain lifetime access to all of the course materials, including all of the video lectures, printables, action steps, self-discovery exercises, and recommended resources. You also get automatic access to any future updates and additions to the course materials. You also retain access to the private Facebook group for your session and all of the content shared within it, including discussions, Dr. Sarah’s answers to all questions posed during the session, and FAQ videos. In fact, the only thing that you do lose access to when your session is over is Dr. Sarah’s involvement in the Facebook Group, moderation of the group, and Dr. Sarah’s availability to answer questions.
The supportive community atmosphere of the Facebook group and Dr. Sarah’s high level of involvement in discussions and answering every single question posed during the session is why students consistently rank the Facebook group as one of the most popular parts of this online course. You are invited to continue to connect with other students and share resources within the Facebook group for your session after the course is over. In order to maintain the integrity of this experience, deferrals are not permitted once the course starts. The Facebook group for your session will be closed to new members when the session is over, so make sure to join the group before the end of your session. Otherwise, you will be expected to re-register for the course in order to join a Facebook group for a future session.
Will this Lecture Series help me use the AIP when I work with clients?
This course is an excellent resource for practitioners to begin their advanced learning about the Autoimmune Protocol. However, this is not a practitioner training program. If you are interested in becoming an AIP Certified Coach, sign up to my Health & Wellness provider monthly newsletter here.
Can I get CE credits for this course?
If you are an NTA graduate, you can get CE credits for taking the AIP Certified Coach course. The AIP Lecture Series is not affiliated with any educational institutions at this time. If you are interested in spearheading the certification process with your institute, Dr. Sarah is willing to work with you on this.
Are there prerequisites or minimum requirements?
The only prerequisite is an interest in understanding the ins and outs of the Autoimmune Protocol. Dr. Sarah generally assumes 9th or 10th grade science (and maybe not that recently) as a background for how she structure the lectures. While they do go into a great deal of scientific detail, these are lectures designed for the general (if nerdy) public.
Will this course provide recipes and meal plans?
Students are invited to share their favorite recipes and meal plans within the private Facebook group. If you are interested in Dr. Sarah’s AIP recipes and meal plans, consider purchasing The Autoimmune Protocol e-book, The Paleo Approach Cookbook, or The Healing Kitchen, or subscribing to Real Plans as an adjunct to this course.
Where can I ask questions?
Simply post all of your questions within the private Facebook group for this course! Dr. Sarah answers every question posted during the 6-week session. You will automatically receive an invite to the Facebook group a few days before the course begins (you will be prompted to supply the e-mail address that your Facebook account is linked to at checkout). (Please keep in mind that Dr. Sarah can not provide coaching, individual consulting, or answer questions that should be directed to your healthcare provider.) Twice weekly, Dr. Sarah will guide discussions relevant to that week’s lecture topics in the group(posted on Mondays and Thursdays). Once weekly, Dr. Sarah will post an FAQ video with more detailed answers to questions posed by students that week (posted on Saturdays, with an occasional bonus FAQ video mid-week). This private Facebook group is a wonderful way to connect with other students, feel motivated to keep up with the course, and connect with Dr. Sarah personally. Joining and participation in this group is optional. However, please note that at the end of the session, the Facebook Group will be closed to new members. If you do not join the Facebook Group during the session you registered for, you will not be added to the group nor a group for a future session at a later date. If you wish to join the Facebook Group for a future session of the course, you will be expected to re-register for the course.
Can I share my login info with a friend or family member?
Just like if you were taking a college course, each participant must enroll separately; however sharing your knowledge with friends and family members is absolutely encouraged! There is a strict policy of admitting only one person per enrollment into the private Facebook Group. If your whole family wants to take the course together or if you’re a practitioner looking for group rates for your office, please e-mail [email protected] with the subject line “AIP Lecture Series Group Rates”.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
Before the course launches, you can request a full refund for any reason. After the course has started, you may get a partial refund for any reason. Refunds are prorated to 80% after the first week unlocks, 60% after the second week, 40% after the third week, and 20% after the fourth week. No refunds will be provided after the fifth week of the course has unlocked. Extenuating circumstances are excepted. Once your refund has been processed, you will lose access to the course and the private Facebook group. To request a refund, please fill out the form on the Refund Policy page.
The course has already started, can I still join?
Three days after the start of each session, registration closes. No exceptions will be made. You may register for the next session of the course. In the mean time, consider taking Dr. Sarah’s Foundations of Health Online Course Collection.
I want to take this course but start on a later date… is that possible?
Absolutely! Simply sign up for the next session and join the session Facebook group, but start going through the materials when it fits your schedule. The first module will still unlock on the session start date with subsequent modules unlocking each week afterwards. However, once unlocked, you have lifetime access to the entire course, all of the course materials, and all of the resources shared in the private Facebook Group (make sure to join the group before the end of the session when the group will be closed to new members). So, you can start whenever you’re ready and proceed through the content at your own pace! Another option is to wait for the next session.
Who do I contact for customer support?
If you are having technical difficulties logging in or accessing the course, please see Technical FAQ (if you don’t find the answer to your problem on this page, there is a form to fill out for individual assistance). For questions related to course content, please join the private Facebook group.
