Self-care has certainly become a wellness buzzword of 2018 and as a lifestyle coach whose primary focus is helping women come more into their own power, and empowered to make more time for themselves, I am the first to admit this.
But there’s a reason. A strong and compelling pull that has us all talking about self-care. There’s no doubt that it’s important. Even if you don’t actively have a self-care practice you likely agree that it’s an important part of wellness.
It may be though, that you’re not sure why it’s actually more crucial than the wellness world gives it credit for.
I know this because it was (and is) instrumental in my own healing journey with arthritis and Lyme disease. But it wasn’t a focus on more baths filled with rose petals, or getting massages, or “treating myself” that made any kind of difference.
The significant impact we get from ‘self-care’ does not come simply from doing things that make us feel good and pampered. They are helpful, and nice, and often help us relax, but that’s not the real essence of self-care.
This is really important to get.
I share this with women I coach, and they all have this ‘aha!’ moment, of wow, I finally get it!
It’s what I had to learn through the experience of chronic illness, toxic relationships, emotional family challenges and ultimately being determined to rise from it all.
I discovered, learning to nourish yourself is the key to feeling empowered.
When I realized this, it transformed the way I thought and went about everything in my life.
The reasons that we need self-care, is because it takes understanding ourselves in such an intimate way, to create an unbreakable relationship with ourselves, to fully support ourselves in the way we support loved ones.
Self-care is an extension of loving yourself, and it is an avenue to express the understanding and appreciation of who you are.
Think of it this way. The way you take care of your significant other, your child, your grandmother, or elderly father. That same care you give to them is so important to give back to yourself.
Why It’s so Important
Imagine if you had the power to change the way you felt every day. Would you do it?
What would keep you from taking action? Fear, insecurity, doubt, self-judgment?
These are all things that keep us from forming a relationship with ourselves and really diving into developing that self-care connection.
Self-care allows us to bring more joy, happiness, comfort, and healing to our lives. And I am not talking about a manicure being the cure to your woes. Not at all.
I am talking about going deep, finding the specific things that make your heart swell so full of joy. Discovering what you need in order to feel your best and then proactively giving that to yourself.
Self-care and the courses I’ve created in my program Soul Power is to help you dive deeper into the relationship with yourself, so that you, yes you, are empowered to take care of yourself in only the way that you can provide nourishment.
The reality is, you are your own hero, and by understanding yourself better you’re actually able to give yourself the life you really desire.
Would there be a lightness in your eyes, a calmness in your mind and satisfaction in your heart?
This is what I teach women to do. To empower themselves to turn their lives around because self-care is so much more than what the buzzword makes it out to be. And we all need it.
It’s the secret to true vitality.
It’s the ticket to understanding yourself in ways you never have before.
It’s transforming the dialogue and relationship you have to yourself.
I transformed the relationship I have with myself.
I came back from debilitating illness, I created a happier life after relationship trauma and devoted myself, to myself. Now I help women do this exact same thing in Soul Power because it’s my mission to help women create not just better relationships with themselves, but ultimately the healthiest lives they’ve desired, mind, body, and soul. If this sounds like what you need, follow your intuition.
To give you an idea of just exactly what you’ll get in Soul Power, here’s how I guide you on this journey to connecting more with yourself. There are 6 parts of Soul Power that guide you on your path to self-nourishment.

“Through the self-care course, I’ve realized that I’m almost never taking time for just me. So, I’ve made that a priority. Just time to be alone with myself. It seems so simple, but something I was missing, and something that I need. I feel like I’m taking baby steps, but also feel like I have already come so far!” – Abby
“Completing the initial coursework is an important foundation for creating the mental, emotional and physical space to becoming more soul-empowered.” – Autumn
“Becoming more soul-empowered”- I love it!
