My long-time readers will know that I’m a big proponent of the power of planning ahead. It allows us to stick to our goals more effectively over the long term by anticipating difficulties and making contingency plans to tackle them.
One of my biggest contingency plan fall-backs is a freezer full of nutrient-dense foods from Paleo on the Go.
Their fully AIP meal options recently got Mickey and Angie of Autoimmune-Wellness and myself through a long week of filming for an upcoming project. They’re not only delicious, but made with high quality ingredients I feel really good about feeding my family and friends. Paleo on the Go delivers pre-packaged Paleo meals (vacuum-sealed in food-grade BPA-free plastic) that are prepared in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, arrive frozen, and are good in the freezer for up to six months.
For those of us making a Paleo or AIP template fit in to a busy lifestyle, this kind of convenience can be a complete game changer! In this post, I’ll address some of my all-time favorite meals AND tell you about the newest, most exciting add-ons that POTG is now offering!
Paleo on the Go meals arrive on your doorstep frozen via overnight shipping. Each package has its own thawing and reheating instructions and the ingredients are listed not only on the package but also on their website, so you know what you’re in for before you order.
It’s pretty simple to keep a stash in your freezer and remove them when you need to, TV-dinner style, but I also love how others choose to use these meal in more creative ways! My friend Jamie from Gutsy by Nature brings them with her for work lunches while traveling, and heats them up in a Hot Logic Mini portable oven. Eileen of Phoenix Helix has them shipped to her vacation destinations so she can take cooking off her plate while she’s relaxing!
The team at Paleo On The Go is so flexible and supportive that the sky is really the limit when it comes to creative uses for this amazing Paleo food.
Convenience is one thing, but a meal delivery service wouldn’t be a good choice for me if they didn’t offer options that were both nutrient dense and delicious. Luckily, POTG has all these bases covered! Not only do they offer a huge selection of entrees, sides, staples, and desserts, but they have the only 100% The Paleo Approach-Approved autoimmune protocol menu!
Paleo On The Go has always served delicious and hearty menu options, but lately I’ve been totally blown away by their new, amazing add-ons! These items are totally menu stars, in my opinion, and make a meal delivery service even more appealing!
They’ve just launched the new, completely out-of-this-world Carob Delight Slim Mint Cookies, which are like a delicious and AIP-friendly version of the Girl Scout Cookie favorite, using carob powder instead of chocolate. These are going to completely blow your mind! And you’ll want to stay tuned for an announcement on some great new AIP menu items coming soon! I’ve gotten to try both of their newest products and as always, I’m incredibly impressed.
Of course, the list doesn’t stop there. From sugar cookie dough for holiday celebrations to kid-friendly “Paleotarts,” there’s something here to please everyone.
A few of my new favorites:
Taco Shells — It’s been really difficult for me to come find a good flour tortilla substitute since starting Paleo, and AIP made that even more difficult by eliminating many of the nut flours I was used to working with. While I finally managed to create my own recipe, the ingredients in these pre-made AIP Taco Shells are very similar, and you can’t beat the convenience! I love warming a few and setting them out for family taco night. You can purchase these cassava flour soft taco shells on their own or as part of a Taco Kit. Either way, they’re one of my All Time Favorite POTG products!
Yiddish Kitchen’s Everything Bagels — My family had a chance to try making the mix version of these bagels at home, and WOW. Rarely has any food disappeared so quickly in my home, LOL! Bagels were one of my pre-Paleo favorites, but they’re definitely not something I imagined adding back into my routine until I saw this product. The best part is that you can buy them two ways! They’re available through POTG as a mix and pre-made! My family couldn’t get enough of them, and they somehow manage to taste like my old favorites despite being completely grain-free. They’re a dream come true! Note: They are NOT AIP.
Sugar Cookie Dough – Making raw, AIP-friendly cookie dough that’s ready to be iced is somewhat of a feat (believe me, I’ve tried it all!). I usually just end up making cookies for my family, and had mostly given up on the baking and rolling and icing tradition I used to love around the holidays. But POTG has saved me once again! This dough arrives pre-mixed but raw, so it’s perfect for forming into all your favorite cookie shapes! The ingredient list is super short and cassava-flour based. It’s AIP, too, but would be delicious mixed with a few chocolate chips or nuts. Yum!
Paleotarts — Breakfast pastries are such a treat, and to me they really feel like an indulgent way to kick off a special occasion. But AIP versions? Those are a tough nut to crack! Of course, POTG managed to figure it out, and their Paleotarts have been insanely popular since they launched last year! These kid-pleasers come in both Apple Cinnamon and Strawberry flavors. They’re also cassava flour based pastry and of course filled with real fruit. My girls love these as a special treat, and I know I do too!
I’ve also contributed a few of my own recipes, like my Bacon-Apple Chicken Burgers with Maple-Cranberry Sauce, and my Creamy Asparagus Soup to the POTG AIP menu, but I also absolutely love their Chicken Pot Pie as well (yet again, an AIP option!). Their full Paleo menu has an even broader range of choices if you have some flexibility with nightshades, nut, seeds and eggs. Either way, their combination of main dishes and sides will absolutely knock your socks off and leave you with endless possibilities to please your family.
