Meet Petra Chambers-Sinclair, MA, an inspirational AIP blogger and health coach who is dedicated to helping people find solutions to their health challenges. Petra has 25 years of research, evaluation and measurement experience. Ten years ago she started applying these skills to her own life, when her husband became almost completely disabled by autoimmune disease. Together they created a self-experimentation approach which enabled him to recover. The Autoimmune Protocol was at the heart of his recovery. Petra now teaches other people about self-experimentation for healing. Learn more at www.biohacku.com.
Petra is also an AIP Certified Coach, a graduate of the inaugural class in 2017. I was curious to understand how completing this practitioner training program, which I co-created with Mickey Trescott and Angie Alt of AutoimmuneWellness.com, has helped Petra in her practice. I caught up with Petra and asked her a few questions that I thought you’d love to read!
Registration will be opening soon for the next session of the AIP Certified Coach practitioner training program! Classes fill up quickly so make sure to click here and sign up for my Healthcare Professionals e-mail list to get first dibs at enrollment for the next session!
Petra, please share a little about your personal health journey and the role that the autoimmune protocol has played.
When I was 40, I felt like my body was falling apart. I didn’t have an autoimmune diagnoses, but I had a lot of debilitating symptoms. At that time, my husband Matthew was almost totally disabled by his autoimmune diseases (and the side-effects of the medications he had been taking to treat them), and we’d been trying to find answers for a long time. We started the autoimmune protocol in 2013, and both experienced profound reversal of symptoms. Matthew was able to stop all pharmaceutical treatment, including pain medication, and return to work after years on disability leave. I left anxiety and depression behind and felt younger than I had in decades.
What made you want to help other people to find healing?
After experiencing the power of the autoimmune protocol first-hand, Matthew and I decided that we wanted to devote ourselves to supporting other people to find healing, too. We decided that the best way for us to do that was for me to leave my career and focus on this work full-time. We believe that healing spreads, and that every person who finds increased health radiates that new-found health to everyone and everything around them.
What certifications do you have and why did you choose that program?
I took the AIP Coach certification because I wanted a thorough grounding in the science behind the protocol and because I have tremendous respect for the knowledge that Sarah, Mickey and Angie bring to this subject. I have read a lot of books and articles about the AIP over the years, but I don’t have a background in biology, so my understanding of the mechanisms of healing were a little sketchy. I got exactly what I was looking for from AIP Coach.
Share a little more about your practice. How can my readers contact you to work with you?
In addition to my health coaching practice, I have developed an affordable online program to support self-experimentation for healing, including customization of the autoimmune protocol. The next session will start in September 2018, but there is no need to wait to get started because the program comes with an ‘autoimmune healing workbook kit’ that you receive right away. The kit includes all the materials you need to get started.
What is your #1 tip that you give all of your clients?
Take some time to figure out what you can do this week that will give you the most impact for your effort. Think in terms of maximize the healing results you will get for the energy you put in. If you take this approach, you don’t need to make all of the changes at once. You can shift your system into healing mode by taking the most effective actions first.
If you are a healthcare professional interested in this high-value certification, join my Healthcare Professionals e-mail list by clicking here (make sure to select the Healthcare Professional list and any other lists you’re interested in!). I will e-mail you with more information on how to become an AIP Certified Coach.
Registration for the next session begin March 1st (the program itself begins March 26th).
