Zukay Live Beet Kvass GIVEAWAY!

February 13, 2013 in Giveaways

When Zac e-mailed me a while ago to ask if I’d like to try Zukay Live Beet Kvass, this was his sales pitch:

[Paleo] is our chance to get back to that ancestral vibrancy we were all meant to have. That’s why our founder, Scott, made Zukay Live Foods – to combat the modern diet and all it stands for. If you haven’t heard of our fabulous kvass beverages,  allow me a quick second, because they’re pretty impressive. You see, all we do is naturally ferment raw organic veggies (a la sauerkraut), and then juice them. That’s it. No sugar, no heat, no additives, no anything. They’re completely and naturally probiotic – no cultures from any lab anywhere. Just our juice from raw vegetables fermented in the same way your ancestors did for millennia. Pretty cool stuff.”

You had me at “naturally probiotic“.

beet-ginger-kvassSo, I picked a few flavors and enjoyed the opportunity to try Zukay Live beet kvass (and beet ginger and carrot ginger kvass).  They are surprisingly good and I can honestly say that I’ve never tasted anything similar.  They have very unique flavors (my guess is that you either love them or hate them).   My favorite is beet ginger, but I also really like plain beet and I didn’t care much for the carrot ginger.  There are actually 7 different flavors (I stuck with the 3 flavors that were also autoimmune protocol friendly) to choose from!

Zukay Live is family-owned.  Scott and Cathy Grzybek (along with their two boys) are located in the Eastern Pennsylvania countryside (so they could have access to chlorine-free, floride-free well water to ferment their veggies in), where they make their kvass (and salad dressing too) on site.  They are passionate about ancestral health and raw, organic, probiotic superfoods!

So, what better way to follow-up a teaser excerpt from my book on probiotics than with a giveaway for a quality fermented beverage?  Yes, Zukay Live has donated a box (5 bottles) of their kvass (you choose the flavors!) to one lucky winner!

Er, in case you missed it, I just hit 10,000 likes on Facebook last night.  I also recently hit 2000 followers on PinterestTwitter is not that far behind.  I also recently hit over 1,000,000 page views just since I switched the blog over from Blogger to WordPress in September.  Crazy!

I promise not to let it go to my head. :)   Well, maybe a little, just for a little while (because weeeeeeeeeeeee!)–but I’ll come back down to Earth quickly.

So, what am I doing to celebrate this big milestone?  Why, of course, another giveaway!  Actually, THREE giveaways!  Gotta share the love!

Want to know more about the products I’m giving away?

NaturAlmond is a family-owned small food business based in Atlanta, GA that makes the best almond butter I’ve ever tasted.  It’s crazy good!  NaturAlmond hand selects the highest quality of almonds from California.  Their almond butter is handcrafted in small batches to ensure freshness and flavor.  By slow roasting the almonds, the essential oils are released to maximize the taste and then ground to the ideal consistency. A touch of natural sea salt is then added to each batch. By not outsourcing production, they personally monitor each step in the process and guarantee quality in a peanut free environment.

Primal Paleo Concepts‘s motto is “the best nature has to offer with 0% Yucky Stuff”.  Their granola  is naturally low carb, no sugar added and paleo-friendly.  Yay for crunch and convenience!  My husband’s first words when he tried this granola were “Ohh!  Me likey!”.  My youngest is equally as addicted–straight out of the bag, too.  Ingredients are super simple: Organic Coconut, Almonds, Prunes (unsweetened, unsulfured), Carrots, and Himalayan Sea Salt.

Massa Natural Meats is a family-owned and operated farm raising purely grass-fed beef in the valley and foothills of Northern California.  Massa Natural Meats and the Massa Ranch in rural Glenn County is an active participant in numerous conservation efforts geared towards agricultural sustainability.  For large orders (i.e.: 1/4 or 1/2 beef) that are going to be shipped a long distance, Massa Natural Meats is now able to ship “airport to airport” via airline at VERY reasonable rates.  They do not have a minimum purchase of any sort and are now offering free shipping for “by the cut” orders over $100 with code “FreeShip100″ (good for anyone who wants to stock up on quality grass-fed meat!).  This gift certificate can be used toward your meat order and/or shipping expenses.

Itsumo Ahi Jerky makes a paleo-friendly tuna jerky that just rocks.  High in DHA and EPA omega-3 fats, easy to digest protein, sustainably fished, free of processing and artificial additives, and produced in an environmentally-concious way.  Plus talk about convenience food!  I keep a pouch of this tuna jerky in my purse for emergencies.  The ingredients of the paleo tuna jerky are: yellowfin tuna, pineapple juice, rock salt, ginger, garlic, onion, nutmet, black pepper and liquid smoke.  I happen to know that they are also working on some new paleo-friendly products that will launch soon.  You can also use the coupon code PALEOMOM for 10% off!!! (good for anyone who want to try these products!)

Hunted & Gathered are dedicated to providing high-quality, environmentally-friendly goods for people who care about what goes into and onto their body.  They have a great appreciation for handcrafted, functional goods, which is why their chocolate and jerky are so famous in paleo circles.  The ingredients of their Paleo Chocolate are: organic cacao solids (60% min), organic virgin cacao butter, organic dark agave nectar, organic cacao powder, organic coconut oil, organic carob, organic cinnamon, and Himalayan crystal salt.  The ingredients of their Grass-Fed Jerky are: strictly pasture-fed beef, salt, herbs and spices, vinegar, organic brown sugar (less than 1 gram).

So, how do you enter?

For EACH of the items below that you do, leave A COMMENT on THIS POST saying what you did.  Yes, that means that you can enter up to 9 times.  And yes, that also mean that you could win more than one package!

TPM Tidbit: Winner of Giveaway #6 and Some Reflections on Giving Away Free Stuff and Hitting ONE MILLION Page Views!

November 10, 2012 in Uncategorized

Two weeks ago, I celebrated my 1-year blog anniversary with a whole week of giveaways.  Every day was a new giveaway, each contest independent, open for 1 week, half international (so many giveaways are limited to US residents so I really tried to make sure as many as possible were available to everyone), and with fairly lax requirements for entering (I’m not a fan of giveaways that ask you to do a ton of work or sign up for dozens of newsletters before you can be eligible).  Every day this past week, a new winner was selected.  The winners were selected completely at random (I have a plugin to do it for me so there is absolutely no bias on my part), but I really enjoyed reading everyone’s comments imploring me to pick them!

This was SO MUCH FUN!  Who knew giving away free stuff could feel this great!?   Well, I guess I’m not really surprised.  I’ve always been someone who actually believes that giving is better than receiving.   I especially enjoyed the sponsored giveaways, not just because they didn’t cost me anything personally, but because the sponsors were all equally excited to have me promote their products (which I would do anyway because they really are all fantastic) and see the excitement you all shared over possibly winning their products.  Thank you everyone for supporting me, supporting those who sponsored giveaways, and generally just being darned cool people.

Oh, and I hit one million page views last week.  So awesome I can’t even tell you how crazy and wonderful that feels.  In one year, with no advertising or promotion other than word of mouth by you lovely people, I went from well, a complete nobody, to holy-cow-my-blog-has-been-viewed-one-million-times.  It’s staggering.  I am flattered and appreciative and will do my best to continue to post quality  recipes, completely candid personal stories, and informative and accessible science posts.  I’m also totally going to do more giveaways!   It’s too much fun not to!

This is the summary and winners of my week of giveaways:

Giveaway #1:  The Paleo Mom Swag (CLOSED)–Congratulations Tami!

Giveaway #2:  NaturAlmond Almond Butter and Flour (CLOSED)–Congratulations Frankie!

Giveaway #3: Demarle At Home Straight Muffin Flexitray and Perforated Baking Sheet! (CLOSED)–Congratulations Meredith!

Giveaway #4:  Hunted & Gathered Paleo Chocolate and Grass-Fed Jerky! (CLOSED)–Congratulations Chelle!

Giveaway #5:  $75 Gift Certificate to Tropical Traditions and $25 Gift Certificate to Massa Natural Meats!  (CLOSED)–Congratulations Christie!

Giveaway #6:  My THREE favorite paleo books AND more The Paleo Mom Swag! (CLOSED)–Congratulations Denise!

Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaways, shared, pinned, tweeted, linked, viewed, liked, followed, gossiped, donated, purchased, and supported.  You are my motivation to keep going and you are totally worth it! :)
